Lightwave ADVENTure 23
A-Z REFLECTIONS ON MISSION WITH THE LIGHTWAVE COMMUNITY
Remember when covid closed church buildings? We learned so much about the value of worship – how important it is to gather to worship together as well as worship alone. It was worth so much effort to find ways of worshipping together meaningfully online through facebook and zoom and to worship amid social stance too with drive-in services & prayer aids delivered to neighbours.
We also learned anew that worship is so much more than singing - it is about offering our whole selves, serving each other in Jesus’ name. Shopping for neighbours, phoning those on their own or welcoming someone into your “bubble”… we saw anew how simple acts of care can be ways of lived worship in the every day. And such worship lifts us out of self-centredness into the landscape of God’s glory, changing our mindset and giving us hope and courage for each day.
St Paul wrote, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12.1-2
Prayer for today
Heavenly Father, remind us today of the precious gift of worship that we may not take it for granted. We thank You for all the mercies You have bestowed on us – especially the forgiveness of sins and for the gift of eternal life You have given me in Your Son Jesus Christ. I now present to You, all we are and have as a living sacrifice to You. Transform us by renewing our minds by Your Spirit, so that we think the way You want us to think about everything, especially about You and about Your will. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN
