You have probably chosen to read this series of reflections because you are mission-minded.  You like to make a difference in the world.  You want to actively share God’s love.  Mission is the heartbeat of the Lightwave Community too and on the surface, this may appear very busy – and sometimes it is.  However, we have learned that just as Jesus took time to be still and quiet, we need stillness and quietness too.

“In returning and rest you shall be saved: In quietness and trust is your strength”  Isaiah 30.15

Being quiet reminds us that it is not our voices making noise which makes a difference – it is attending to God’s voice.

Being quiet brings rest.

Being quiet gives us an opportunity to examine our lives and notice the things which tempts us.  It brings repentance and opportunity for amendment of life.

Being quiet brings the opportunity to absorb God’s perspective on the things which have upset us.

Being quiet allows us to attend to God’s promptings guiding us.

Most of all, being quiet, gives us time to be in the presence of God.

Today, know yourself to be a small child, content in God’s arms and pray the words of Ps131
