Easter Joy

PRAYER LETTER  APRIL 2025

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body
you were called to peace. And be thankful."  Colossians 3.15

Thankyou to the wonderful Lauren Moore for this month's illustration.  Lauren's meditative illustrations are frequent inspirations on the Lightwave Suffolk Facebook Page.  Lauren is also a great trainer for people leading small missional groups.  You can contact her by emailing lightwave.community@cofesuffolk.com

This verse seemed particularly appropriate for this season, as all the Lightwave groups and hubs have a particular focus at the moment on how they can bless and be more  integrated with their local parish churches.  We also are preparing for the Lightwave AGM and reporting at the end of the Growing in God in the Countryside Project which got the Lightwave Community going at the start

FOR PRAYER AND ACTION
You are warmly invited to sign up for membership of the Lightwave Community.  The membership and electoral rolls are completely revised from scratch every six years.  It is important for as many of those involved as possible to join the roll, as this may influence future provision for the Lightwave community in the diocese. Please note that membership is for all who are involved with Lightwave:  The Electoral Roll is for people who are baptised and have attended a Lightwave group for at least 6 months – you can cover both on the same form.  It is very easy and short!  Currently about 650 people are active participants in Lightwave – but only about 60 on the new roll.  Please sign up by April 14th  at Lightwave Community Membership Application

THANKING GOD WITH JOY FOR...

  • People coming to faith (Thank God for all on Alpha courses and baptisms at Red Lodge and Bungay on 27th April)
  • Creative outreach over Lent and Easter.  (The picture shows a Lightwave group in Bredfield inviting people to make a free posy as a mothering Sunday gift outside the village shop)
  • Increasing partnership with parishes (Pilgrims Together partnering with Leiston for Community Trails outreach and Forest Heath stepping into the breach to enable parent and toddlers in Great Barton to continue)
  • Financial sustainability plans falling into place (Place by the Water have received a  grant from Rural Ministries which will allow the community to take three years to achieve sustainability through giving.)
  • Lightwave was invited to a special reception at Buckingham Palace as a partner with the Royal Countryside Fund working for farmers' welfare.  Here are Graham Miles and Sally Gaze meeting King Charles.

PLEASE PRAY FOR...

  • Andy Buttress, leader of Bridge Communities and Dawn Buttress as they prepare to move on to pastures new in the summer.  Please also pray for Bridge Communities as they discern what Go is saying about their next steps as a community
  • Please continue to pray for the Lightwave hubs and small groups - for more information go to www.lightwave.community/find-a-group.  Especially pray for our young people (picture of a brilliant Alpha Away day above)
  • Rob Leveritt and the new volunteer Lightwave communications team, as they take forward the work of communications in a new way.  Please also pray for Rob as he prepares to form a Lightwave group and undertake a season of listening in Alde Sandlings Benefice, funded by the Growing in God in the Countryside Project.
  • The ongoing work of discernment through an Appreciative Inquiry process to discover how best the Lightwave Community can contribute to and flourish within the wider diocese in the years ahead - plus ongoing work on financial sustainability

Thankyou for all your prayers.  It makes so much difference

Every blessing
